Drilling Instructions
E-Z KUT Hunting Products Convertible Hand Drill and Cordless Drill Bit is engineered for years of service with normal use and care. The drill bit is manufactured to just the right size (diameter) to give clearance for the 6” E-Z UP Step Bolts.
Here’s how to drill a tree with the hand drill:
1. Place the heel of your left hand against the tree and grasp the hand drill by its collar with your thumb underneath and your first and middle fingers on top of the collar.
2. Angle the drill bit down slightly; this will prevent the Step-Bolts from falling out.
3. Exert just enough inward pressure to start the drill; the drill bit is self-feeding and requires no inward pressure while drilling the hole. Don’t try changing the angle that the bit is cutting at while it is cutting; the self-feeding tip is very hard and may break off. If you’re not happy with the angle or placement remove the bit and start over at a different location.
4. When the bit reaches the proper depth it will stop drilling at that point you will feel the last wood chip break; continue turning the drill a few more times then grasp the drill by the handle with the bit between your first and middle fingers and pull the bit straight out; there is no need to turn the drill backwards. Pulling the bit out will pull out the wood chips.
5. As you are ascending the tree just leave the hand drill and bit in the last highest hole to free up both hands so you can raise your safety belt then step up to a higher Step-Bolt.
6. Slide in your E-Z UP Step-Bolts.
Here’s how you use the Convertible Cordless Drill Bit:
1. Place the drill bit in the chuck of your cordless drill. Angle the bit downward slightly and exert slight inward pressure to start the bit cutting. Then just support the drill so the bit does not bind; the bit is self- feeding and will pull itself into the tree that you are drilling.
2. When the bit stops cutting just run the drill for a few seconds while pulling the drill bit out of the tree. Flick out the chips from the bit flutes before starting another hole.
3. As you are ascending the tree just leave the drill and bit in the last highest hole to free up both hands so you can raise your safety belt and step up higher on the Step-Bolts.
4. Slide in your E-Z UP Step-Bolts as you go up.
